Extension Request Options

NCBAP Extension of Recertification Deadline Criteria

The National Certification Board of Anticoagulation Providers (NCBAP) opens the recertification portal for Certified Anticoagulation Care Provider (CACP) board certification renewal 90 days prior to the credential expiration date.

Within this time frame, recertification candidates are required to submit a recertification application plus submit a recertification portfolio and/or sit for a recertification examination prior to the CACP expiration date. (Recertification Process can be found here: https://ncbap.org/web/exam-recertification.php)

The NCABP appreciates that unexpected and extenuating circumstances may prohibit a candidate from meeting this deadline.  To accommodate for these situations, NCBAP will consider extensions to the recertification deadline only under the provisions below:

1.       Recertification Candidates should communicate the need for extension at least 4 weeks prior to the credential expiration date via e-mail to [email protected].

2.       Recertification by Examination:  Extension requests submitted less than 4 weeks prior the credential expiration date will only be considered if the candidate has scheduled a CACP examination date.

3.       Recertification by Portfolio:  Extension requests will not be available for candidates seeking recertification by portfolio if submitted less than 2 weeksprior to the credential expiration date.

4.       Candidates are only allowed an extension if they meet all current Recertification Requirements at the time of the request.

5.       If approved, the Board may grant up to a maximum 6-month recertification deadline extension.

6.       If a candidate fails to recertify at the end of the extension, the candidate must begin the process for New Certification by Examination.

7.       Recertification candidates may not use the CACP credential past the original expiration date.

8.       Candidates are only allowed one deadline extension over their entire career.
